Dear friends and family,
Here we are, nearly halfway through the year! We hope this update finds each of you well.
As you know, almost two years ago David accepted the role of Director of Student Mobilization at IHOPU. One of the main jobs within this role is to oversee our annual student ministry trips. In April we sent our students to 7 different states and several cities within those states. We also had our online school conduct ministry from the Middle East, Europe, Asia and the US. Doing ministry online is very new and we are still figuring out how to partner with those who are doing it currently. Overall, we could not be happier with how the trips went! We saw over 300 salvations! Students often say that these ministry trips are their favorite part of their IHOPU experience and this year was no exception.
One of the biggest changes David made to the ministry trip program was implementing a weekly mentorship for the junior and senior students leading the trips. Each week they received pre-recorded video content from some of our main leaders on the base and then were given the opportunity for in-person Q & A with those leaders. David also created space for the students to work on the logistics and details of the trip during classroom time so that he was available to oversee and answer questions. IHOPU has been sending students on trips for many years but this is the first time we had a mentorship like this. The students could not say enough about the mentorship! It was such an improvement to our program and this was completely pioneered by David. Whatever he puts his hands to, he seeks to make it the best it can be. I’m so proud of him for this!
We wanted to share a testimony from one of the students who ministered in Austin, Texas.
“After going around and praying for several people, me and my evangelism partner Ann noticed a man in a red shirt sitting near a traffic light and we went over to talk to him. The man was homeless and had a gambling addiction. Ann shared her testimony about being set free from her past life and that opened the door for us to pray for him and share the gospel to him. She then led him through a prayer of accepting Jesus into his heart! With many tears he thanked us and let us pray for him and encourage him even more. We found out that he had access to a Bible and to a church and after we encouraged him more we gave him food and water and he went on his way.” -Jonny
This is just one of many testimonies from the trips. We are so thankful for this opportunity to share the love of Jesus and our faith within our own nation!
We want to thank each of you for your continued partnership and support!
